One winter afternoon, a young couple walked into the studio hand in hand with bright smiles and chirpy voices. After having spent an hour with them, it almost felt like we’d known them all our lives.
Radhika and Chetan spent most of their childhood as neighbours in California. They have always been best friends. Their friends and family often referred to them as the “love birds”. So much so that the name stuck with them.
The brief by the client was to make a vibrant card that translated the title lovingly given to them by their folks. We took them literally. Lovebirds nestling amidst the boughs of spring flowers (the season of their wedding) became the central theme.
The entire gamut of the wedding paraphernalia consisted of an invite with four inserts, money envelopes, luggage tags, welcome and thank you cards, gift bags and a wedding favor box with silver love birds nestling inside.
The jacket of the invitation has been screen-printed on 450 gsm cotton paper using vibrant inks with embossing and hot-foil printing for accents and effects.
The inserts have been printed on 300 gsm cotton paper using special gloss inks for the background. The gold highlights have been treated with raised UV effects.
A cut out window frame was created for the thank you card. The same concentric motif has been used on all collateral. We then, as conscientious designers used the cut out paper as luggage tags.
The love birds wedding card is a spring affair with green fields and budding trees transforming into bright, colorful expanses of pomegranate, wildflowers and berries. The birds are heralds of divine love, while the flowers symbolize happiness and prosperity. The enchanting greens fused with fuchsia, turquoise and lime.
Paradise.
